10 Digital Marketing Podcasts You Need to Follow in 2020

Whenever we create a new marketing plan for your business, no matter the platform, we always like to find some quick, handy, and helpful advice. Often enough we might find ourselves turning to digital marketing podcasts.

Last month we addressed our personal picks for the top 11 Facebook Ads Podcasts to follow in 2020, but this month we thought it might be a good idea to expand it a little further and not restrict ourselves to Facebook ads but digital marketing in general.

There’s a lot of really interesting podcasts to listen to out right now and this month we’re exploring some that are well known, or maybe just a little funny which keeps them enjoyable but still always full of a fresh lesson and helpful advice to help you reach your marketing goals.

Digital Marketing Podcast #1 – Marketing School


Our first focus is going to be on a well-known podcast, of a well-known channel that should not be forgotten. They’re quick, to the point, and full of information.

Hosted by Top Influencer, marketer, and New York Times bestselling author Neil Patel of Neil Patel Digital and the Youtube Channel Marketing School, along with the entrepreneur and CEO behind the digital marketing agency Single Grain, Eric Siu.

These 2 leads in marketing also host a regular and massively successful Youtube channel under the same name.

The Podcast that launched in July of 2016 produces at a regular 30 episodes a quarter ratio, The Podcast runs in short 4 to 8-minute segments making it quick and easy to digest along with just something that’s easy to set time aside for each day.

They’re also updated daily making it a constant source of fresh digital marketing lessons and content.

This digital marketing podcast is also incredibly easy to find and accessible across multiple platforms including iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify, Youtube, GooglePlay, and Soundcloud.

Digital Marketing Podcast #2 – ProBlogger Podcast


Our next feature is a highlight for the Bloggers out there.

Blogging is a massive part of content marketing, digital marketing, and connection. Most pages with marketing include a blog, so if you’re looking to start up a blog for your business why not take some advice from a Pro? Enter in, ProBlogger Podcast.

The ProBlogger Podcast started in June 2015 by Darren Rowse. Rowse is an Australian blogger, speaker, consultant, and founder of several big blogs and blog networks, including ProBlogger.net and digital-photography-school.com.

This Podcast isn’t quite as universal as our previous mention here but it can be found of course on Stitcher and iTunes but more notably, directly on the web on the ProBlogger website.

In the digital marketing world, ‘Content is King’ and this Podcast will help you learn and explorer creating more frequent and engaging content, an Idea to really sink your teeth into so you can build some engagement up with your audience or clients.

Digital Marketing Podcast #3 – Marketing over Coffee


Our next feature for the list of our top 10 digital marketing podcasts is the long time running Podcast called ‘Marketing over Coffee’.

Marketing over Coffee has been running just about as long as podcasts have been running and have continued to shine as a marketing example since 2007 due to it’s winning formula.

Each episode of Marketing over Coffee is recorded every Wednesday at 5:30 am Eastern at a coffee shop in Natick, MA, just outside of Boston.

Hosted by John Wall, a marketing professional and partner at Trust Insights and Christopher Penn, three-time IBM Champion in IBM Analytics, a Brand24 Top 100 Digital Marketer, an Onalytica Top 100 AI in Marketing influencer and the founder of Trust Insights.

The two of our hosts discuss topics like classic and new marketing and release each episode Thursday morning. You can find them on both Apple Podcasts and Google’s Podcast services, as well as a whole host of their archive on their website online.

The show interviews many people across the field of digital marketing, as well as takes questions written into them and answers them.

One thing that we found as one of the more interesting features about their web presence, was that you could easily access their most popular interviews and episodes directly from the page.

Digital Marketing Podcast #4 – Copyblogger.FM


Another fantastic digital marketing podcast to follow is Copyblogger.FM. We chose Copyblogger.FM as our next feature because it is packed full of weekly marketing data analysis.

CopyBlogger.fm has a rotating cast of experts who analyze every week in content marketing, copywriting, email marketing, conversion optimization, mindset, freelance writing, social media marketing and much, much, more.

This podcast not only an interesting listen, but an active tool to learn from. Copyblogger.FM 2010 and is still actively putting out content a decade later. Talk about longevity!

This weekly, short-form broadcast is currently hosted by Darrell Vesterfelt, a partner at Copyblogger, as well as the co-founder of Good People Digital and Tim Stoddart, CEO of Stodzy Inc, the owner of Sober Nation, and partner in CopyBlogger.

Digital Marketing Podcast #5 – Lead Balloon

Our next feature for the list of our top 10 digital marketing podcasts to follow takes us in the opposite direction from focusing on what’s successful, to some of the biggest failures in marketing, aptly titled Lead Balloon.

Lead Balloon explores tales of PR Disasters, professional crises, and half-baked campaigns gone awry, giving well-meaning communications professionals a platform to re-live the most pivotal moments of their careers.

Because sometimes, there are important lessons to be learned from someone else’s worst day.

Hosted by Dusty Weis, Former reporter in print and radio, as well as Owner & Show Host of PodCamp Media, This new podcast has had a great kick-off and is both educational and entertaining.

Sometimes learning and being mindful of anything that can go wrong can be one of the better learning experiences we have to make sure everything goes right.

You can find this Brand new (Launched in January this year) once a month podcast on Soundcloud and iTunes as well as the main page itself. While it’s still fresh it’s definitely one to follow for its unique perspective on PR and Marketing Matters.

Digital Marketing Podcast #6 – Not a Real Job Podcast

Our next feature for the Top 10 Marketing Podcasts to follow in 2020 is another very new and very out-of-the-box choice, a humor-based Podcasts called ‘Not a Real Job’.

‘Not a Real Job’ casts a humorous look at digital media marketing, social media marketing, website design, and growth hacking. Hosts Joel Kelly and Chris Van Patten take humor as an approach to teach lessons on all of the above.

Joel is a writer and digital marketer in online media planning and buying, copy-writing, public relations, social media strategy, and marketing strategy while Chris Van Patten is an entrepreneur and website designer.

The two of them take and answer questions about how to build your business online, what to look for in a website vendor, how to run a successful ad campaign, how to write website content, how to generate real revenue from your social media profiles.

This podcast seems to be a start-up in itself which makes it just that much more interesting to start following from the beginning.

Digital Marketing Podcast #7 – ‘Everyone hates marketers’

The next feature digital marketing podcast was launched by Louis Grenier, the Content Lead at Hotjar, back in 2017.

It was created with the goal of creating a podcast, no-fluff, actionable marketing podcast for people sick of shady, in-your-face marketing, and helps inform listeners on how to market the right way.

Digital Marketing Podcast #8 – Duct Tape Marketing

Duct Tape Marketing is a podcast that has been around for the better part of a decade. The podcast covers a number of digital marketing topics.

This podcast features interviews with authors, experts, and thought leaders sharing business marketing tips, tactics, and resources hosted by one of America’s leading small business marketing experts – John Jantschis.

Duct Tape Marketing is particularly useful for beginner and medium level marketers.

Duct Tape Marketing is widely available too. Along with the Youtube channel, you can follow the podcast on iTunes, Stitcher, Android, Spotify, and Google Podcasts.

Digital Marketing Podcast #9 – Yours In Marketing


Hosted by Blake Emal, this digital marketing podcast is focused on upping your marketing game. In this podcast, Blake talks about marketing, sales, and leadership with some of B2B’s brightest minds.

Yours in Marketing is a weekly podcast by Directive, a search marketing agency for enterprise brands headquartered in Irvine, California.

In addition to interviewing some of the top marketers and B2B leaders, the podcast dives deep into the inner workings of Directive and their experiences with business-to-business marketing.

Digital Marketing Podcast #10 – Protect the Hustle


Our final focus for our post will be the podcast featured from Profitwell called ‘Protect the Hustle’. Protect the Hustle is a culmination of interviewing folks like Netflix’s Patty McCord, HubSpot’s Brian Halligan, SurveyMonkey’s Leela Srinivasan, and more.

These people are protecting the hustle all over the world so you can learn from their lessons in the trenches.

Protect the Hustle likes to focus in on the marketing personalities of those who do just that.
